Oedipus is really exist and he lived in the Late Bronze Age around 1300 BC (a few generations before the traditional date ascribed to the Trojan War). In 1300 BC, some Greek writing on anything included pottery shards that record the history and was found in Thebes. Soon after 1200 BC the region experienced disasters, during this period the population decreased significantly and most of the city was burned and abandoned. Some of them such as Mycenae, was never inhabited again. Written language became a lost art, both the Aegean and the western region of Anatolia.
